Cowboy Boot Makeover

A very long time ago I took an old pair of boots and switched them up.
These boots are leather but they happen to have a cute western fabric lining so it was easy to fold them down.
Then I went through my old belts and bandanas and stuck them on there.
They don't have to match. Mine don't its just fun!

I've seen people do this with boots that are thick leather and in order to do this the have to cut a line down the back. Yikes that scares me. But it is an option.

Dress Up Your Boots

So I went on Pinterest and I noticed that someone repinned my little boot thingies. I made these a while back at about 3 in the morning. I really can't remember what inspired these but I thought I would blog about them.
I don't know about you but I have a ton of Mexican blankets so this one will not be missed. I just cut some strips.
First I cut them stripes that I liked an then I cut the diamond pattern out and sewed it over the stripes.
It's nothing fancy and my seeing skills at the time were very bad but it worked.
Remember that if u cut a Mexican blanket it will unravel so when you see it in a circle overlap the ends a little bit and it will help.
They don't have to be perfect. Mine definitely aren't but I always have people wanting to know where I got them.
They are just fun and kinda cute for the winter.

Gypsy Soul

Yesterday I wanted to be comfy. I dug out am old shirt. Old shirts are pretty much like comfort food... I'm always thinking about food... Anyway, I wore it with these destroyed Jeans, my Junk Gypsy hat, and my Justin Gypsy boots.
I love my JG hat, mainly because I love all thinks Junk Gypsy. If you don't know the Junk Gypsies and their awesome style check them out at gypsyville.com
I also love my Justin Gypsy boots. They are come comfortable than sneakers, they are inexpensive and they are stirrup friendly. I love these boots!

Moo Cow Monday

It's Monday y'all. I guess yesterday's efforts to stop it from happening failed. Better luck next week.
This morning I woke up to a freezing house. I grabbed one of my cats and brought her under the blanket with me. We huddled together for warmth until I was brave enough to run for a sweater and some comfy jeans.
When I went back  into my room to grab a pair of boots, I saw these babies. These Frye boots hold a special place in my heart. I don't wear them when I know I'll be climbing trees or trekking through mud. I like to keep these clean for the occasional barn wedding or trip to the Opry.
Today, I needed a little something special  and these boots are SOMETHING!

I Love this Jewelry

I love flea markets!
Yesterday I was walking along and I was immediately drawn to a table with beautiful handmade jewelry. I knew I had to get something but it was hard to decide what to get because I wanted it all!
Most of the jewelry was pretty flowers that would go with just about anything from jeans to a dress but they also had an amazing mermaid line and of course these cross earrings that I got.
I love the earrings but I already regret not getting a small pale orange rose pendent too. It was to die for!
Bee Stung's website is still in the works but you can check them out on Facebook.
I might just have to order somethings for my girlfriends for Christmas because, although my friends are all very different, Bee Stung has something for everyone.

Friday Fashion

I have off on Friday so Thursdays are my Fridays and this is what I wore last Thursday.
You know how by the end of the week you are exhausted and totally over doing any work? No just me?
Well by this Thursday I was running on fumes and needed
Something comfortable but pretty enough to
Get me through the day.
I found this dress in a ball and stuck it in the
Dryer to get the wrinkles out. Meanwhile I put
On shorts and a tank top because, well, the dress
Isn't mine (it's my sister's) and I thought it was
A shirt.
When I put it on I was very surprised but in a good
way. It made my day!

Most Comfortable Flip Flops

I love havaianas! Flip flops are a staple in any Belle's closet. I used to get blisters from mine but then my momma showed me these. Havaianas are the most comfortable flip flops I have ever worn and I have worn them all day without getting one blister.

Lucchese Boots

I need to take a minute to acknowledge these boots! Lucchese boots are amazing.
Have you ever gone to work or school and gotten this horrible feeling in your stomach like you are still wearing your slippers? It happens to me all the time when I am wearing these boots because they are so comfortable.
I've had them for only a little over a year but I can already tell you they are getting better with age.
Yep Lucchese Boots are pretty expensive but I can honestly say its worth the money. I have tried on a lot of boots and some very expensive brands just don't work for me because they aren't comfortable. These feel great and look amazing. I get so many compliments on them because you can tell they are nice boots just by looking at them.
I love these things!

Amen.

Good Bye Summer

The breeze blowing through no-man's land today is chilly and a horrible reminder of what is ahead of me.
I can no longer continue to hashtag summer on my Instagram and pretend its okay.
I am in a horrible place today and I need a little southern comfort so I am wearing these beautiful Corral Boots to get me through a day with a low of 63... I know it's not that bad. I'm being very dramatic. It might have something to do with the fact that my momma is headed to North Carolina or the weekend and I'm stuck here. Bless. Her. Heart. Haha Just kidding all is well as long as she brings me back a couple cases of Cheerwine.

** I also am breakin out one if my emergency moon pies and this dreary day.

Boot Rescue

Check out my new boots! Not... Haha
So I know I have said this before and I will probably say it again: DON'T throw away boots... Like ever!
The Lord only knows how old these vintage Tony Lama boots are. I wish I had taken a shot of these babies a few months ago. Yikes!
Vintage boots are the best. I know someone who has a great pair and guess where they got them? The trash can outside their sister's house... NEVER throw boots away!
Take them to a shoe repair place. Ask around and find a good one though. You want to find someone who knows how to work with cowboy boots or you could end up with some sort of weird heel on them. But they will polish then up and re-sole them and you really won't believe your eyes when you see them :)

In or Out?

"In or out" is a question most people ask when they are trying to decide whether or not to tuck their shirt in... Not me.
Most of the time I tuck my jeans into my boots. I don't know why; when I was little I didn't tuck my jeans in but maybe I was just following what my mom did. Anyway, something switched over in me and now I usually tuck my jeans in.
However, today I left my jeans out and I noticed a pattern. I leave them out when I'm working or I just want to be comfortable.
Leaving your jeans out completely changes the look of your boots. It makes them not so flashy in a world where you may be the only one wearing boots. It's just an all around more causal look. But of course wearing boots gives your casual outfit a little something extra.

Fix Boots That are too Tight around Your Leg

Wow I can't take credit for this brilliant idea or the picture. I got it out of Glamping with Mary Jane by Mary Jane Butters.
When your boots get too tight around your leg DON'T throw them out!!! The trash is no place for any pair of boots
Split the back with a razor knife and punch holes on each side and lace then up with a cute ribbon 🎀
Too cute!

Floral and Pearls

I have been in a pearly kinda mood I guess :)
Today I dug out my white, lavender and peach pearls. I'm wearing them with a floral graphic t shirt. The light floral background tones down the harsh block letters on the shirt and compliments the pearls.
I wouldn't have worn pearls with this shirt if it didn't the delicate background but the floral makes the block letters and pearls work :)
It's perfect for what I'm doing today: setting up for a party. Yay!

Sperry's

Today I'm wearing my new Sperry's. Sperry's are so comfortable that I wear them a lot and my old ones have suffered from creek water and splashes of fried chicken oil. I got these fancier ones for when I want to get a little more dressed up but still be comfortable. I wore them to a family reunion picnic and they were great. I love them.
I was telling my friend to invest on Sperry's because she only wears little flat shoes and complains the fall apart too easily. Sperry's are worth the money they hold up if you take care of them. :)

Gingham and Pearls

Today I am in the mood to wear some gingham and vintage mint colored pearls. I am just running to a few stores and then I'm back to the house so I don't want anything too fancy (explains the cut offs)
Only a Southern Belle knows how to wear pearls and cut offs ;)

Beaded Belts

When I'm going casual I like to be simple and comfortable. I wear a lot of denim and a lot of plain grey and white shirts. Because my outfit is very subtle I love statement pieces. Usually when I think about statement pieces I automatically go to big sparkly necklaces or bracelets (something that grabs people's attention) but what if I am doing that first call for all that jewelry? Well that's when I put on a fancy tooled or beaded belt. It breaks up my casual outfit and it looks pretty! I love changing up the buckles too :)

Overalls

I love overalls! I wear them all the time. You don't have to be working to wear them.
I like to pair overalls with pretty white shirts to dress them up for when I'm going out. That way they are comfy and pretty too :)

Let it Rain Let it Pour

It's a rainy day in my town and I'm wearing my "Wellies" to go shopping for a party I am planning.
I had always wanted Hunter Boots but it wasn't until I went to college in a flood zone that I actually got a pair.
I know they are expensive but your feet will thank you. They are so comfy and if it was a cold day I'd be wearing my Hunter Boot liners. They are super cute fleece and knit liners that fold down over the top of your boots.
*The boots run big to fit the liners
These are good boots and I always say it better to spend a little more money and buy it once rather than spend a little Nd have to keep buying it because it didn't hold up :)

Cowgirl Comfort Zone: Tips for Picking Boots

Cowboy Boots are the most comfortable things you could ever put on your feet.  They come in all kinds of styles and colors. Sometimes it is hard to choose just one pair.
These Justin Boots were made for walking and they can take just about anything. They are amazingly comfortable and easy to clean up. My Justin Boots have survived dusty flea markets and even a blizzard. When I traveled to Boston, MA I only packed boots and it turned out to be a snowy, icy mess. These Justin Boots were the only thing that got me through. and they cleaned up just find in the end. They come in all kinds of styles and colors. Sometimes it is hard to choose just one pair.

If you are shopping for your first pair of boots, don't be blinded by the pretty colors. Choose something practical- a color that will match everything. The right pair of boots can look great with anything from overalls to Lilly dresses. I have a pair of Lucchese Boots that never fail to look perfect whether I am just going to school or getting dressed up for a wedding.
-----> BOOT BLING- that red, white and blue thing around my boot is called boot bling. They come in all colors and they are SPARKLY! I picked two up when I was in Nashville. I got this one and a plain white one that Sparkles lots of pretty colors. It a great way to dress up your practical boots.

If this is not your first rodeo, I suggest Corral Boots. They are super comfortable and very stylish. You get the fashion boot look with the working boot feel. What more can a girl ask for?

The Perfect Pink

You can never go wrong with pink nail polish. Every summer I set out in search of the perfect shade of pink nail polish. This year I came across "Preppy Pink" by NYC.
NYC targets teens so their colors are always fun and perfect for summer.
This bottle was only 99 cents but don't let the price fool you into thinking it is not good nail polish. every time I wear NYC nail polish someone asks me what kind it is because they either love the color or have trouble finding such a glossy polish and I am always surprised at how long it holds up.
(It looks so much prettier in person!)
